A night of festivities with old and new friends, enjoy the soulful music of Beacon’s own Rhythm Rising Latin Jazz Band, and Beacon Rising Women’s Choir, a sip and the taste of delicious hors d’oeuvres, along with an array of mouthwatering raffle items donated by local businesses.

June Rising is an opportunity to come together after the hard years of pandemic isolation and support our public schools. The evening will feature written and video testimonials from around the community of the ways our incredible school district rose to the challenges of the pandemic to nurture our children and families in the toughest hours and days of life under Covid. Lights, camera, action! Get your red carpet outfits ready for the Beacon City School District’s first Student Film Festival! Open to all enrolled students in the district, the festival will feature a dazzling range of 2-minute short films by Beacon’s aspiring Hollywood pros screened at the Seeger Theater at Beacon High School. Get autographs and your photo taken with your favorite film stars, and pick up your film fest merchandise! FBS has teamed up with local philanthropist Karen Finnegan. Karen’s organization, Chickens with Attitude, is hosting a 5K race and fun-run on April 23, 2022, with live music performances, a book reading of Jolene the Disability Awareness Chicken, and great raffle prizes. The event, called the Chicken Run, will be held at the stunningly beautiful Sharpe Reservation and will be a family day out to remember. It may even feature a special visit from one of Karen’s famous chickens. A percentage of the proceeds will benefit the Foundation for Beacon Schools. Registration will be limited for the first year of this event, so make sure to reserve your tickets on the Chicken Run website.
